Why short home demonstrations will cost you time

cost you time

You might think you’re covering everything when you do your home demonstrations. But, if they’re only taking you 30-40 minutes to complete then the chances are - you’re not.  In 30-40 minutes, you simply won’t be able to go into the level of detail you need to on such topics as dealing with normal shrinkage, thermostat controllers and heating systems. And they get more and more complex by the minute. Cut it short and it will cost you more in the long run – that we can guarantee.

But why is that?

Well. It’s like this. If you rush through all the items on your list you don’t give customers the chance to take it all in. Even worse is that there’s a chance too, of them sensing your haste and feeling that you’re not giving them the service you should. As well they might.

But to return to the main point: the upshot of you rushing your home handover demonstration is a likelihood that the client will ask you to do it all over again once they’ve moved in. Further, the chance of such an occurrence increases no end if they move into their new home in the summer and don’t turn the heating on for a while.

Better by far to set aside enough time in the first instance to ensure you cover everything the customer needs to know. That mimimises the opportunity for them to do something they shouldn’t – like pressing buttons on the boiler already set-up by the installer. Should that happen customer care becomes involved. And then, as is so often the case, a professional trade has to make a visit. All of which is needless and avoidable cost to the company. All for the sake of a few more minutes. A stitch in time saves nine, as the old adage goes. And you’ll reap the rewards at the end and improve your customer satisfaction scores. And who doesn’t want that?
